CENTERSTAGE NORTH: Lend Me a Soprano (October 3-5, 9-11)
Lend Me a Soprano is a comedic farce by Ken Ludwig, set in 1934, where the Cleveland Grand Opera Company's manager, Lucille Wylie, must manage a series of disasters when the famous soprano Elena Firenzi arrives late and her jealous husband, Pasquale, shows up. The play involves romantic entanglements, mistaken identities, and backstage chaos, centering on Lucille's mousy but determined assistant, Jo, who tries to save the day. The play features a large cast of women in leading roles and is a gender-swapped adaptation of Ludwig's Tony Award-winning play Lend Me a Tenor.
